Master Classes in Orthognathic Surgery

Presented by Johan Reyneke, Carlo Ferretti and Manolis Heliotis

14 - 16 October 2011, Central London

This is a two-day didactic course covering the hallmark aspects of orthognathic surgery, often by-passed in day-to-day practice and teaching of trainees or execution by experienced surgeons and orthodontists. An extra half-day hands-on treatment planning session is offered free to the first 20 registrants onto the course. The half-day course will only accommodate 20 participants.
The first day is an explanation and demonstration of the surgical expertise behind the technical execution of the three most commonly used procedures, namely the Le Fort I, the bilateral sagittal split osteotomy and the genioplasty. These are presented in a concise step-wise fashion to allow for ease of referral and assimilation by surgeons and distilling the relevant surgical aspects essential for the orthodontist to reliably translate treatment planning in the clinic to success post-operatively.
The second day is the 'How to Plan' cases, probably the most neglected but essential aspect of surgical and orthodontic practice. We will be covering the basic important principles, through to advanced hands-on planning techniques, independent of software access or type. Here, we will include the innovation of anteroposterior cephalometric analysis, clarified with respect to skeletal, soft tissue, and dental relations in both lateral and anteroposterior respects. A treatment planning algorithm will be presented unambiguously with considerable emphasis on the development of a visual treatment objective. This course is designed to meet the specific needs of Orthodontists and Surgeons in Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery. Experienced clinicians will appreciate this as a thorough refresher course with gems for improving the diagnostic and surgical aspects of everyday practice.
We have designed the master classes to flow with didactic continuity in a captivating and engaging manner by having most of the talks delivered by Professor Johan Reyneke, a world respected authority in Orthognathic surgery. Johan is a sought after teacher and speaker on the subject world-wide and is invited several times a year to speak internationally. He has dedicated his professional career to the advancement of this subject to which all three presenters are dedicated to promote and make accessible to patients. All three of us have excellence as our core value in the delivery of care and to share our expertise with surgical colleagues, surgical trainees and orthodontists who wish to develop an interest and engage in orthodontics for orthognathic surgery.
